This old one-room schoolhouse in North Dakota borders the Moray River and my husband's grandparents' farm. His mother, her siblings and the neighboring children all attended school there. Hubby remembers his grandfather telling the story of donating the land for the school and all the farmers getting together to build it. Grandfather also rented a room to the teacher that taught there.
Look back to the previous post to see the bridge that crossed the river to the schoolhouse.
My husband was visiting at the farm when a tornado blew through and destroyed the farmhouse but the school remained untouched.
The school is now abandoned and when we walked through it, we could see the remnants of children everywhere. The surrounding flat prairie land is deserted and we could see for miles. Kind of sad when you think of all the life and history that happened there.
I took a photo when we visited and worked from that.

I like the paintings on your blog. Great work!
SUPER SUPER WORK, TERI!! Your architectural renderings are really wonderful!
So crisp and clear, Teri---really stunning. Your work continues to evolve in the nicest, nicest way!
It's nice sharing in these little bits of history, and I love the sketches. The bridge with the sunflowers speaks a lovely message of nature reclaming where she can.
I love the building drawings and paintings. The flower sticking through the bridge planks is gorgeous. Only an artist would find beauty in such nature.
