You are so right! I always start out with a lot of books in the box and then I realize I can't lift it... Books are very heavy! Perrfect for this word Teri!
Val beat me to it. I was just thinking the same thing. I just packed some books for charity and I thought I would sustain a hernia, prolapse something or bug out my eyeballs. I ended up picking them up in pieces instead of boxes. Your drawing is perfect. Have a great weekend.
Nice illustration..very minimal but it gets the point across. What could be heavier...lets see...maybe all those boxes of books we carted up here when we moved. Ask MY husband.
Having moved quite a few times, I finally took some advice from a seasoned mover, the sort who has done stuff like this for a living for years. He told me to forget about packing like with like, that was too much trouble and effort. He said just get a number of decent sized boxes (perhaps file boxes) and start filling them with articles, distributing weighty things evenly, and then complete filling the boxes with soft articles like towels, clothes, blankets, whatever. He said this kept each box at a relatively even weight for lifting and stopped anything from "splooging" around on you. I'd never heard the word before, but I immediately caught his drift.
Great drawing, by the way...simple elegance of composition...less is much more!

oh my back hurts just looking at them...lol....nice work...
I can relate to this. I know the feeling. I had bad shoulders for months.
nice sketch, i like the flaps showing how the box is closed
Excellent sketch. Fabric can also be very heavy.

oh yes, can relate to this one--love the heaviness next to the light of the window, too....

Yup, you got it! The trick is using smaller boxes with books. I know, we just did that dasterdly thing too, last summer. Great sketch.
nice sketch! I haven't moved in about 15 years.... but your sketch brings back memories.
we use really small boxes for books, but then we have about 100 boxes...good illo teri.
love the top of the one box where you see all the side peieces folded in!
Oh yes, not a pretty sight, though the drawing is very pleasing to see.
nice nice illo! remembers me my last removal ...

Thanks for stopping by everyone. I see we have all been there with those heavy boxes.
you (and your hus) are totally right.
well done, Teri!
wonderful sketch
True! You did a great job on the boxes, especially with the flaps folded together.
Wonderful illustration! Those boxes look so heavy and the thought of moving makes my mind heavy, too!

They do look heavy, and we can all relate. Do we all have millions of books?
That is why I hate moving, I'm that husband that has to deal with awkward /heavy stuff. Nice little sketch.
Yes, you've captured why moving is such a drag. Endless boxes of stuff.
