It has become a tradition for us to go to the parade in our small town and enjoy the day.
As soon as we got our chairs out I noticed the guy in the upper left page and grabbed my sketchbook (wishing I was closer to him). He was sitting in the back of his truck in a lawn chair with a beer in hand; suspenders, beard and baseball cap, a real redneck. Then I noticed the lady in red taking up most of the chair.
The guy in the lower left found the perfect position for waiting, lounging on the grass.
The little boy in the right upper corner is waiting for the candy toss with bag in hand. The kids were sharing some of their candy with DH.
Lower right are just some weeds growing near the curb.
Best part of the parade are the people waiting to be sketched!
I haven't done many people sketches since I don't do them in church and I feel rusty so it really felt good to do these.

I know you enjoyed doing those people sketches, Teri! What a great place to find them!!! I love parades...how wonderful that your town had one!
These wonderful sketches could have been done in our community yesterday too. We don't usually attend the parade but these scenes are typical of every small town to me.
I didn't get downtown for our parade - I was cleaning out the old aquarium. One of my dogs spent the entire afternoon freaking out over the fireworks. Like your sketches - I don't feel like I do people well, but I probably need to practise as you were! Good job!
That was some big parade for a little town...Love all your "characters'...the parade of tractors was awesome! :)
wonderful sketches, and liked the parade, quite overcast there too.
Love these live sketches, teri you are our reporter here.
Love the parade showcasesing the firetrucks, water tankers, tractors, horses....
They have so much pride and confident in their steps!
Thanks, it's a precious moment to me too:)
oh how wonderful Teri!!! hope you had a wonderful time!!!
Teri, your little sketches are really nice. I got the feel of the experience. Don't you just love a parade?
And P.S., I think your star and stripes print is very pretty.
