White Coneflower

While I was waiting for someone I walked outside and found this white coneflower. I don't see a lot of them and I just 'happened' to have my sketchbook with me so I sketched them and painted it at home.
I love the one flower that is buried in all the leaves near the bottom.
It is always interesting painting white flowers.
Have a great Saturday!

Great job, teri! I have ONE white stem among all my pinks this year .... I like seeing both white and pink together ... I really love the blue behind these -- makes the petals pop!

I love the far-left flower and the way the darker blue cascades around it. The little flower is sweet. I'm with soulbrush. I like how you carry your sketchbook and paints with you.

I have never seen a white cone flower! I have three different cone flowers in my garden, and now when I see them I think of you and all your lovely little coneflower watercolors. I am hoping one of them will have a genetic accident and produce a white flower. It's possible - just happened with one of my California poppies. And I didn't take a picture. OUCH!

Me too. I have two colors of coneflowers, but no white one. Yumm for the white. Will have to look for one in some of the specialty garden shops. Lovely painting. Judy

They are beautiful. Very hard to paint white flowers in watercolors. Love the blue back ground behind it.

you are very talented in painting, it is a very relaxing activity, hopefully, i can get back to sketching and painting too, i was not that good, so i picked up the camera instead, but painting used to be my hobby when i was still in the philippines. i love your work and all the illustrations.

oh yes, sure, you just HAPPENED to have your sketch book handy...
don't you just leave the white white on the page and paint around it? That's what the art teacher said to do for clouds in a sky.

This coneflower looks like a daisy to me! So spiritual look.
Glad that you sketched something Teri and a day becomes better and happier!

gorgeous! I think you are really getting the hang of painting white flowers. I am sure I will take your technique into consideration the next time I attempt it. I always find it so difficult, but you have really done a lovely job. They look so beautiful and fresh here.
