My crafty friend Pam over at Gingerbread Snowflakes asked me to join in "Gourd Art" joint post where we show the gourd or gourds that we decorated with zentangles.
The other player is Genevieve, a certified zentangle teacher and she is over at Tangle Harmony/Zentangle Art.
All three of us had a 'gourd art play date'.
To be totally correct (for trademark purpose) - Zentangles are the abstract black & white pieces we create on the 3-1/2-inch paper tiles. Everything else should be referred to as "Zentangle-Inspired Art".
Below is the one gourd I decorated with 'zentangle-inspiration art'. I tried to get a view of each side plus the top and bottom. I am probably going to use mine as a paint brush holder.
And you know I had to put some daisies, a cactus, a mandala and a lizard on there along with my zentangles. That's just me making up my own rules and letting my muse take over the design.
I did this before my surgery and it really helped keep my mind off of worrying.
Top
Bottom
I used Sharpies, and acrylic paint for the design and then sprayed it with a fixative. This was really a lot of fun and if I can find some more gourds I want to make some more.
Thanks Pam for initiating this project and inviting me to your 'gourd play date'.
Be sure to visit both ladies to see some awesome gourd art:

Teri -- you did a super super job! As always, I LOVE your daisies! you've certainly made this YOURS!!!
Yeah, like you didn't have enough to do already right Teri LOL!!!
Wow, these are soooo beautiful, It's really amazing what you've done here. Talk about potential (and thank you!) you have so much of that that is expressed so well via your many art works.
Hugs, G :<)
Thank you 1,000,000 times for joining in on this project, Teri. I like Play Dates! A LOT!
I love how you have incorporated so many of your favorite subjects - flowers, cactus, and the beautiful lizard!
Brush holder! Great idea! I will make one! And get my brushes out of that old mug with the broken handle!
I'm glad you included a lizard. I like slimy creatures, and I am fearless around them. That's my contribution for Animal Wed. too as sadly Meowmie is working on other projects today. Something about a hook and some yarn....off to check it out.

Fabulous job... what fun pencil holders!
This is so interesting how the design goes around and up. Love the subject matter of course. Lizards are one of my favorite creatures. Happy Animal Wednesday. I will have to pop over and see what these other people have done. If I wasn't up to my elbows in glue I would join you. I have some gourds that need to be used. They have sat in my garage for some time. Definitely dried out.
Beautiful Teri...I love the mix of zen and pictures here.
(PS Knew you'd love the bra!) Tee hee.
Love it!!
This is wonderful. How do you do so many projects. You and Lynn wear me out reading about it all. :)) Oh and I got a bang out of the bra too. :))
Teri....this is so gorgeous!! I truly love it...the colours, the Lizard (yesssssss....I adore them too), the bloossoms and seedlings.....
This really captures the Spirit of the Desert! You are so talented!
Hugs,
♥ Robin ♥
This is so amazing that you can make a gourd look like this with Sharpies!!! WOW!!!
Gosh Teri, this is fantastic! You did an amazing job on this. There must be hours of work here and so detailed. I'm impressed, whatever you call it.
