This seagull is now famous for sitting on the Sistine Chapel chimney just before white smoke was seen at 8pm Rome time on 3/13/13. I thought a quick sketch of this seagull was necessay to remember the occasion.
The Catholics now have a new church leader, Pope Francis I.
We watched history unfold on TV. I really like everything about this man.
God bless him.

How Cool, Teri!
I watched after I got home from work. It was very emotional. Great. I pray for his wisdom to guide the church. Love love love this sketch. Beautiful.
I hope that I do this correctly.
It was so neat to see that seagull - it's like he knew something - you know, like it was going to be Pope Francis for the animals also!
I was going to do a FB post about the Seagull....but your sketch is so much better! May I copy it - just for me? I want to remember yesterday too....
I found it so appropriate that our new Pope took the name of Francis...(one of my most beloved Saints)..and here was a Seagull to be the first to *recognise and welcome* him!
I watched the announcement and his first public comments...and I cried too...love his gentle face, voice and eyes....and hey - he loves Opera!
Love,
♥ Robin ♥
I never thought of the 'St. Francis and his love for animals' connection. so neat.
Of course you may Robin.
Amen. God bless him!
A lot of responsibilities for just one man. Such long work days too, I was surprised to read that the Pope usually works to almost 9 in the evenings. I hope they've made a good choice. Nice sketch Teri!
A beautiful Gull, Teri! Congrats on your new Pope!
Teri,
I just love your sketch.
I was happy and abit surprised about the chosen pope, as I hadn't heard his name as someone who might be elected. So that seems to have made his electiont feel more significant, and well chosen.
I wish him so very well!
That is such a nice connection Robin made to St. Francis and the seagull!
