If I were to design a boot for me this is what it would probably look like; a cactus on the side among a zentangle pattern and a daisy on the heel.

This lady was dressed in tan from collar to cuff. Kind of boring.

We went to "Macaroni Grill" for lunch and I saw these beautiful bottles high up in the window with the sun shining through.

So I started to sketch them.

When I looked back at DH he was sketching on the paper tablecloth with crayons. This restaurant has crayons on the table for the kids or whomever wants to use them.

He was sketching the wall but added his own drinks to it.

Well, that was an interesting lunch! Maybe I'll have to carry another sketchbook with me. lol

I had to redo this whole post as I unintentionally deleted the photos from Flickr and you couldn't see them. Still learning about my Macbook.

Today is my baby's birthday.

I am so lucky to have two such wonderful daughters.

Animal Wednesday - Fish and Bug

I have been so busy learning about my new Mac that I nearly forgot about Animal Wednesday. I happened (read, I frantically looked) to find these 'twinchies' (2 inch ATCs) that I did in September and they were close enough to be considered animals.

Phew, so glad i found them.

No competition to Mim, our resident fish expert.

I have not been doing much art except on the run so I need to get back to it!

Blooming Tuesday - Autumn

When we had breakfast on Sunday, the restaurant, Jerry Bob's, had this little pumpkin on the table. Took me about 2 minutes to quick sketch it and then paint it at home.

While it was all artificial I tried to make it look real.

Thankful Thursday

Lots to be thankful for this Thursday starting with my new Macbook Pro.

I have been spending a lot of time with it so we can get acquainted and the more time I spend the more I love it. Thanks also to my daughter who just bought one and for helping me over a few humps.

And thanks to all the people that offered to help.

This is my 'W for Watercolors' for our ABC/ATC group. Lolo painted it.

I had to scan the card also with her stamps. Too cute!

This zentangle is from Bevie in VA. I got this in a play-it-forward at ATCs For All. It's a good way to trade cards at your own pace.

Thanks to Wisconsin for sending us in Arizona their cold weather!

Macbook Pro

The new Macbook (on the right) came home today. Notice the sleek and slim lines.

I can see there is quite a learning curve here but I like the features I have found and of course, I have a million questions. I have been playing a lot today and managed to do this post.

It is SO easy to put a photo from Iphoto right into Flickr and then use it here.

I think I will use my old pc until I get more acquainted with this one.

But I doubt I can keep my hands off of this one.

My One-to-One class is next Monday.

A is for Apple and...

A is for Apple and a NEW MACBOOK-PRO laptop!!!

I will be offline until Tuesday evening while my files are being transferred.

And I am totally lost without my computer!!!!!!!

After I get acquainted with my new one I will be around to visit.

Cactus Monday - Cactus Tombstones

I was walking the other day and noticed that a neighbor had taken single prickly pear pads and stuck them in the ground to grow.

As I looked at them, I thought how much they looked like cactus tombstones....thus, another Cactus Monday sketch was born. lol

Church Sketching - Day for Black

Church sketching always has interesting results.

The boy in black caught my attention first (black hair, black shirt and black pants), then I realized that the Dad had black hair (with his bald spot).

I had also caught the mother not paying attention to the service but looking elsewhere.

Church sketches are always fun.

Well, sketching people in general is fun.

A Yahoo 'Drawing in Church' group has been formed and I just started a Blog for their sketches. You can see it here.

Letters S,T and U

Doing some catch-up on my alphabet letters for our ABC/ATC swap.

S is for Sand dollar and went to Gina in Ireland.

T is for Tangle and went to Linda in California.

U is for Universe and went to Laure in Florida.

We are getting close to the end of the alphabet and will take a small break until after the holidays and then restart with a new theme.

Visit the ABC/ATC for some really creative ABCs in the ATC format.

Illustration Friday - Fast

The theme word at Illustration Friday this week is 'Fast'

and

this 'fast' sketch I did last Sunday at the Old Pueblo Brass Band concert is perfect for the 'fast' theme.

My friend Martha is the librarian for the band and I go with her to a concert now and then. I love their music and I also get to do some 'fast' sketching.

Not only did I have to do it 'fast' but it was pretty dark in the hall.

I did the guest conductor sketch right on the program.

It is always a fun day to go with her.

Thankful Thursday

I took a break from ATC trading while getting ready for, and after I got to Arizona.

You would never know it by all these wonderful ATCs I received this week. Some are from swaps and, well, yes I got back into trading.

My mailbox overfloweth with goodies and I am so thankful for all this beauty!

These three beautiful plumaria are from a swap.

The left one is from Deborah in Texas, the middle one is from Katie in Missouri, and the last one is from C.L. in Ontario.

There were so many gorgeous blooms in this swap.

I got this plumaria in a personal trade from Katie in Missouri.

Plumarias are grown in Hawai'i and that is why they are so beautiful and why I love them so much.

Lynn sent me my V for Volkswagon (along with her delightful story) from our ABC/ATCs swap.

And I love her card!

These three ATCs are from an Autumn Swap at ATCs For All.

(L to R) Pumpkins from Terry in South Carolina, Sewn leaf from Sarah in Texas (you would love this Lynn!), and this coppery/burnished one is from Laurea in Australia.

I showed the leaves I made on Tuesday.

These cute little Halloween twinchies (2x2inches) were sent by Maggie in California.

The above ATCs are from another swap called, "Black, White and Purple Zentangles" at ATCs for All.

I got involved in four ATC swaps at one time and way overdid it.

I guess I didn't slow down too much. lol

Animal Wednesday - Whimsy Dogs

These whimsey dogs are twinchie (2x2in) ATCs, done in response to a challenge at ATCs For All/Twinchie Social group.

The first one howling at the moon was easy (notice the daisy on his neck scarf), but the second dog was more difficult to think of. Reminds me of a Wisconsin cow. lol

So I should call these Arizona and Wisconsin dogs.

You often see the spines I put all over my cacti so I thought it was time to bring this sketch back.

When I first got interested in cactus I wondered just how the spines grew so I got up close and personal.

This is what a fish hook barrel cactus spine looks like.

Yikes! Looks deadly.

A Real Travel Map

This is another postcard I made for my granddaughter for her project.

"Flat Stanley" is a project that the third graders do at her school. The children try to get as many postcards as they can from anywhere in the world and then they are shared with each other and put on the bulletin board. Everyone writes just a little bit about their part of the world on it.

My other two grands have done this and they love it.

Again, I usually send them while we travel to Arizona but I could not find any so I had to make one.
